Add a missing subtitle line at the right time
If an SRT or VTT file skips a spoken sentence, open it in subt.it, move to the gap, select Add cue, then enter the words and their start and end times. Preview the result and export the corrected subtitle file.

Try the demo to open a 16-second video and an SRT with its middle line removed. Your own subtitle and video files stay on this device.
Add the line in four steps
- 01
Open your subtitle file
Open an SRT or WebVTT file in subt.it. You can add your video for local preview. If you want to practice first, choose Try the demo: its middle spoken line is missing from the sample SRT.
- 02
Move to the gap and add a cue
In Editor, move the playhead to an empty part of the timeline and select Add cue. The demo has room between 00:03.800 and 00:12.800. If Add cue says there is not enough room, choose a larger gap or adjust the adjacent cue times first.
- 03
Set the words and exact times
In Caption details, enter the missing words and set Start and End to when they are spoken. Use hours:minutes:seconds, milliseconds, then select Save cue. Play the video around the line to check its timing.
- 04
Find, check and export
Search the subtitle cues for a distinctive word to confirm the line is present. Check any timing issues shown by the editor, then choose Export .srt or .vtt to download the corrected subtitle file.
What this editor needs
Start with an SRT or VTT file. A video is optional and is used only for preview. subt.it does not transcribe speech from a video or burn subtitles into the video; Export downloads a subtitle file. If the missing line is already present with the wrong words or time, select that cue and edit it instead of adding a duplicate.
